Vanaf Schiphol is Hoofddorp goed te bereiken met buslijn 300 en nachtlijn N30.

Station Hoofddorp, aan de spoorlijn (Amsterdam Centraal / Amsterdam Zuid-) Schiphol - Leiden wordt alleen bediend door Sprinters. Dit zal voor aankomende reizigers in veel gevallen betekenen dat er in Leiden of op Schiphol moet worden overgestapt op een Sprinter. Als je vanuit Hoofddorp vertrekt is in veel gevallen overstappen in Leiden, vaak op hetzelfde perron, nodig.

Hoofddorp is per auto goed bereikbaar (behoudens files) over de A4, afslag 3 (Hoofddorp) of afslag 3a (Hoofddorp Zuid), en over de N201 (Haarlem - Hoofddorp - Aalsmeer - Uithoorn - Mijdrecht - Vinkeveen) met diverse afslagen naar Hoofddorp.

Hoofddorp is op de normale wijze per fiets te bereiken.
