June 6, 1944, also known as D-Day, stands for the biggest assault in military history, known as Operation Overlord. D-Day took place during World War II. Operation Overlord was planned months before D-Day. The USA started in 1943 to produce more weapons. The whole economy was restructured from a peace economy into a war economy. It was a major contribution to the Allied success in World War II. though many men were lost the beach was taken over. Many people think D-Day stands for Decision Day , but it does not, the first letter is emphasized just to show the importance of the day.
