Alton, Illinois

Alton is a town in the Illinois, United States. It is near the Missouri River and the Mississippi River. In 1837, Elijah Lovejoy, an editor was killed by a group of angry people here for being anginst slavery. The last of the Lincoln-Douglas debates was held here in 1858. One of the most famous people to come from the town was Robert Wadlow, who was the tallest man in the world.
