Numerical digits are what numbers are made of. The number 56 has 2 digits. 5 and 6. In the decimal system, each digit is how many of a certain power of 10 are needed to get the value. The leftmost digiot is ofr 10^0, the next for 10^1, etc.
56 can be written as 6*10^0+5*10^1
0-9 are both digits and numbers; For numerical bases bigger than 10, symbols are used, 10 is A, 11 is B, etc.
