Chips (food)
From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chips are a kind of food made out of potatoes. The potatoes are cut into thin strips and fried in hot oil. Chips are eaten with fish, burgers, sausages or pies. Sometimes they are eaten on their own. Many things can be put on them to make them taste nicer. Salt and vinegar are popular, and some people like gravy, curry, cheese, ketchup or mayonnaise. They are called condiments, because they give food flavor. In the United States they are called french fries or French fried potatoes
Chip shops are shops will sell cooked chips to take home to eat. They also sell fried fish, sausages and pickled onions. Fish and chips is a very popular meal in Britain. Most people buy it from chip shops instead of making it.
