A church is a group of people who have the same religious beliefs. Sometimes the word church is used to mean the building where prayers and religious meetings are held. It is usually used to talk about groups of Christians or Christian buildings.

Some Christian church buildings are called cathedrals or chapels.

Some churches meet in very small buildings or in a space that is used for some other purpose, like a store or warehouse. Some churches hold meetings outdoors. Other churches have religious services in buildings that are very old or large and have beautiful works of art. Many famous paintings, statues, or other art can be found in some of the buildings used for church meetings. Some church buildings have beautiful windows made of colored glass. The design of a church building is meant to inspire the people in it.

Many tourists travel to see famous or beautiful churches. Many of the most famous ones are in Europe.
