2003 invasion of Iraq

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 2003 invasion of Iraq refers to a war mainly waged by the United States with the support of Great Britain, Australia, and some other countries against Iraq. The war is in its fifth year with no end in sight, the occupation still continues to this day of once sovereign land. The Bush administration claims U.S. forces are in Iraq as special guests of Iraqi government, invited. The promised Iraqi 'freedom' turned into bloody civil war. The situation in Bagdad was never stable, in recent days the situation is becoming safer but bombings and killings continue every day. The violence has spread to others many parts of Iraq, only Kurdistan as always, remains relatively peaceful for the time being. If Kirkuk is given back to the Kurds in the 2007 fall referendum, the situation may become more volatile and dangerous.
