Turkey (bird)

American turkey
Turkey is a kind of bird which is eaten in some countries, but it is not eaten in many others. It is something like a chicken, but much bigger. Wild turkeys live in forests in North America and Central America where they sleep on top of trees.
There are two species:
- Wild Turkey, (Meleagris gallopavo)
- Ocellated Turkey, (Meleagris ocellata)
In the United States, people traditionally eat turkey on the holiday of Thanksgiving.
