Stephen Crane

Stephen Crane (November 1, 1871 - June 5, 1900) was an American author in the late 19th century. He was born in Newark, New Jersey. For a while he was a reporter in the slums of New York. Then he wrote The Red Badge of Courage, which is about the American Civil War, and other stories such as The Open Boat and Maggie: A Girl of the Streets.
