From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Granite is a type of rock called igneous. Deep in the ground, chemical elements under high pressure and temperature turn to granite very slowly. The pressure and heat melt the elements together. Some elements fuse into crystals. Sometimes the deep rock layers come to the surface of the earth because of geologic events.Granite is mainly made of the minerals quartz, feldspar, mica, and hornblende.
