People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

PETA (Or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is the worlds largest non-profit organisation about animal rights. The four main beliefs of PETA are that animals are not to be used for food, clothes, exploitation or testing.

Recently they launched worldwide campaigns against KFC for the way it gets poultry and against IAMS for the tests they did and how they treated the animals which they used.

PETA's main website is made for adults and vegans. They also have another website called PETA2 which is made for teenagers who are vegetarian, vegan or still deciding. Videos are used to promote their work and to show how the animals are being treated. They also have over one million members. Some of these are at PETA's headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia in the United States.

They have been criticized for their offensive campaigns and their controversial beliefs.
