Saint Martin (island)

St. Martin is an island in the northern Antilles. Its 250km north of Gouadeloupe, and 240 km to the east of Puerto Rico. The island is split:
- The northern part belongs to France, it is named Saint Martin. Since early 2007 it has the status of Collectivité d'outre mer.
- The southern part is named Sint Maarten, and belongs to the Netherlands
The main towns are Marigot (on the French part) and Philippsburg in the Dutch one. About 60.000 people live on the island.
