3-D

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

3-D (or 3D) means three dimensional, or having three dimensions.

A dimension is measurable in inches, centimeters, miles, kilometers, or any other unit of length. The three dimensions that this term refers to are length(depth), width, and height. These correspond to the axis of a 3D graph. X is width, Y is height, and Z is length(depth).

Some refer to time as the forth dimension. It is also measured. It is measured in units of time such as seconds, hours, years, or any other measurement of time.

3D is also used to make video games or animated movies. It needs a lot of calculations in order to display models in 3 dimensions on a 2 dimensional screen.
