Erection
From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An erection is when the penis becomes hard, and then can be used in sexual intercourse. An erection happens when blood enters the Corpus cavernosum in the penis faster than it leaves. As they fill with blood, they expand. This causes the penis to grow longer and wider. It also causes the Corpus cavernosum to press against the veins that let the blood to flow out of the penis. Since less blood can flow out of the vein, more is trapped in the penis. The extra blood causes the penis to become hard. Once the amount of blood flowing into the penis becomes less (after ejaculation), the pressure on the veins also become less. This lets the blood flow out of the Corpus cavernosum faster and it returns to its normal size.
Erection can also mean the construction of something, or a monument or a statue.
