The word country has different meanings in English.
1. It can mean nation, a part of the land on Earth that has come together under one government, and that no other government can control. Some countries have mostly one group of people living in them; other countries are made of many different peoples who share one government; still other countries have many peoples who have moved to that country at different times.
Most of the land on Earth is part of one country or another. The United States, China, and India are all countries.
