From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Matilda of Flanders (c. 1031 - November 2, 1083) was the Queen of William I of England.
Matilda was the daughter of Baldwin V of Flanders and Adela of France, who was the daughter of Robert II of France. She was married to William in 1052 and they had about ten children, including:
- William I of England
- Adela of Normandy, who was the mother of Stephen of England
- Henry I of England
After Matilda died, William became very angry. Everybody believed that this was because he was sad because Matilda had died.
