IPod
From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The iPod is a portable music player made by the company Apple Inc. The iPod comes with computer cables so that the user can put music from his computer onto the iPod, and play music from it using headphones. Newer iPods allow a user to view pictures and videos as well.
Apple also makes a smaller player called the iPod nano. It is much smaller than the iPod, but does not hold as many songs. It uses flash memory, a special kind of memory for very small electronics, instead of a hard drive. It replaced a version of the iPod called the iPod Mini.
Another type of iPod, called the iPod shuffle, is very small, and it uses flash memory, like the iPod nano but it has no screen. It is the cheapest iPod.
iPods often contain songs downloaded from an online music store, using a program called iTunes. (The name of Apple's music and video store is the iTunes Store.) Songs are often in Apple's AAC file format, as compared to MP3 or WMA, two other popular formats for compressing (making smaller) music until it does not take up much space and can easily be put on a media player such as the iPod.

[edit] iPod nano
The iPod nano was first sold on September 7 2005. iPod nano is like the regular iPod, only smaller.
iPod nano uses flash memory. This is different from most digital audio players, including the iPod. The good thing about flash memory is that is has no moving parts in it. This means the iPod Nano can be used while exercising without the memory breaking. Flash memory is also very small. The iPod nano is about as thick as a pencil.
The iPod nano is controlled by a click-wheel on the front. With a 1.5 inch color screen, the "nano" is very bright and clear. It can play music, podcasts, and audiobooks, and it can show photos. It also has a calendar, an address book, games, a stop watch, and a combination lock. The stop watch is very useful for an athlete or anyone in a workout.
