Julius Caesar is a play written by William Shakespeare. It is based on the historic event of the life and death of the Roman emperor Julius Caesar.

  • Brutus - Caesar's best friend, although he does not support Caesar's rule
  • Cassius - a friend of Brutus, the head of the conspiracy to kill Caesar
  • Antony - Caesar's friend, who supports Caesar and opposes Cassius
  • Octavius - Caesar's adopted son, next in line for the throne
  • Calpurnia - Caesar's wife
  • Portia - Brutus' wife
  • Flavius and Marellus - two men who are punished for objecting to Caesar's rule
  • Cicero - a famous public speaker and senator
  • Lepidus - forms a committee with Antony and Octavius to find and kill Caesar's murderers
