Hyenas are mammals. They are the family Hyaenidae, in the order Carnivora. Hyenas live in Africa, and in west and south Asia.

Hyenas are carnivores. Hyenas hunt for meat and are also scavengers. The Aardwolf is different from the other three hyenas, because it eats termites.
