Green Day is an American pop punk / punk rock band. They formed in Berkeley, California in 1988.

The lead singer and guitarist is Billie Joe Armstrong. Other main members of the band are bass guitarist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool. The most recent album they have made is a live album called Bullet in a Bible. They have made other albums called American Idiot, 39/Smooth, Kerplunk, Dookie, Insomniac, Nimrod, Warning, International Superhits, and Shenanigans.
Green Day have also been asked to make a movie out of their album American Idiot which was written as a punk rock opera. Billie Joe has already written a general plot of the movie and gave it to a screenwriter who is turning it into an actual screenplay. Green Day will not be acting in this movie. They have said that they are going to make sure the story will be told the way it is supposed to be told.
