Red blood cell

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Red blood cells or RBC's are cells that are in blood. RBC's are very large in number. In women there are 4.8 million RBC's per microliter. In men there are 5.4 million RBC's per microliter. Red blood cells are red beacuse they have hemoglobin in it. This makes blood look red. Red blood cells are also called red blood corpuscles or erythrocytes.

The most important thing is that red blood cells carry oxygen. They catch oxygen in lungs, run through blood vessels, and bring oxygen to all other cells.
