The activities will take place on June 3, 2026. The activities are organized between Dalhousie libraries and the Department of Information Science in the Faculty of Management at Dalhousie University. The event will take place between 11:30 am and 3:30 pm Atlantic time in the Ko’jua Okuom Room, in the Killam Library at Dalhousie University. The Ko’jua Okuom Room is a special Indigenous gathering and student place. The contributions of participants will focus on Mi'kma'ki and Mi’kmaw peoples in the theme of arts and culture (local artists, authors, filmmakers, musicians, etc.). The event will include an instructional session on Wikipedia. Content related to Mi'kma'ki and Mi’kmaq peoples and culture is underrepresented in Wikipedia, with articles on key cultural activities, such as the game Waltes, absent, a lack of biographies of key figures, and there is a need to better organize content across Wikipedia. The event also represents an opportunity for collaboration between Dalhousie Libraries and the information science program on campus, providing opportunities for information studies professors, students, and librarians to work together. Promotion for the event will be supported by the libraries and Information Science programs. A [https://outreachdashboard.wmflabs.org/courses/Dalhousie_University/National_Indigenous_History_Month_Edit-a-Thon_(June_2026) dashboard] has been created to help support event tracking. This event is the third edit-a-thon in a recurring series of Mi'kmaw-focused events. == List of participants == ''Indicate here the list of participants that will incur expenses for this activity; you do not need to list all participants that will take part in the activity. On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, a group of 15 participants gathered in the Ko'jua Okuom (Indigenous Community Room) at Dalhousie University's Killam Library for an edit-a-thon for National Indigenous History Month. The event was an introduction to Wikipedia editing, followed by dedicated individual editing time. This was the first edit-a-thon and Wikipedia experience for 8 attendees. As of Monday, June 8, the edit-a-thon dashboard statistics are: * 3 Articles Created * 18 Articles Edited * 172 Total Edits * 12 Editors * 5.91K Words Added * 106 References Added * 5.65K Article Views The group was focused on adding content about Mi'kmaw arts and culture, including artists, filmmakers, poets, authors, etc. Three articles were created: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danica%20Roache Danica Roache], [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catherine%20Anne%20Martin Catherine Anne Martin], and [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arlene_%22Dozay%22_Christmas Arlene "Dozay" Christmas]. This was a success in large part due to having subject-matter expertise in Stacy Allison-Cassin, librarian and faculty member, who led the workshop instruction. We were also well prepared with sample content and tips for beginners from beginners who had particpated in an edit-a-thon in 2024. Participants expressed interest in having a follow-up gathering to continue working on their edits. === Final Budget === ''Indicate here your detailed final budget in Canadian dollars (CAD).'' {| class="wikitable" !Item !!
