Mountain gorillas are among the world's most endangered species (primates) and are found only in the high altitude forests of Central and East Africa. They live mainly in the volcanic mountains through Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of the Congo. These giants inhabit dense forests at elevations between 2,200 and 4,300 meters above sea level, where temperatures are cool and vegetation is abundant.
Mountain gorillas are the largest living primates. Adult males are known as silverbacks because of the silver hair on their backs, can weigh over 180 kilograms. They live in large family groups led by the dominant silverback, who protects the group and guides its daily activities.
Today mountain gorillas are considered a conservation success story, although they still remain vulnerable. Continued protection, community involvement and environmental conservation are essential to ensure that future generations can continue to admire these extraordinary animals in their natural habitat.
Tourists can book their trips to Uganda, Rwanda and Congo, '''[https://www.gorillatrackings.com here]''' to see these giant but gentle creatures.
