կանանց մեծամասնութեան անտարբերութիւնը՝ իրենց կացութիւնը փոխելու հարցին մէջ։ Ան համաթուրանական մըն էր եւ իր վէպերէն մէկ քանին կը պաշտպանէին թուրանականութեան շարժումը։ Առաջին Համաշխարհային Պատերազմին ընթացքին, Հալիտէ Էտիպ Ատըվար վարած է Պէյրութի, Դամասկոսի եւ Հալէպի դպրոցներու տեսուչի պաշտօնը։ Այս հանգամանքով, ան վեց ամիս հսկած է Անթուրայի (ներկայ Լիբանանի մէջ) որբանոցի մը, ուր Հայոց Ցեղասպանութեան հետեւանքով որբացած երեխաները կ'ենթարկուէին պարտադիր ձուլման (թրքացման)։ Իր յուշերուն մէջ Ատըվար կը նշէ, թէ ինք պատասխանատու էր որբանոցի վարչութեան, բայց չէր հաւատար որ պարտադիր ձուլման արարքը բարոյական էր, եւ կը հաստատէ, թէ իր վերջնական նպատակն էր փրկել հայ որբերուն կեանքը։ Ըստ հետազօտող [[Քիթ Տէյվիտ Ուէյթընփօ|Քիթ Տէյվիտ Ուէյթընփոյի]], անկախ դրդապատճառներէն, այն ինչ որ կատարուեցաւ Անթուրայի որբանոցին մէջ, Ցեղասպանութեան յանցագործութիւնը կանխարգիլելու եւ պատժելու մասին 1948-ի համաձայնագիրին հիման վրայ՝ ցեղասպանութիւն կը սեպուի<ref name=":0">{{Citation|title=Halide Edib Հալիտէ Էտիպ ծնած է [[Պոլիս|Կոստանդնուպոլիս]] (Իսթանպուլ), Օսմանեան Կայսրութիւն, ազնուական ընտանիքի մէջ։ Իր հայրը Օսմանեան սուլթան Ապտիւլ Համիտ Բ․ի քարտուղարն էր։ Հալիտէ Էտիպ կրթութիւն ստացած է տան մէջ մասնաւոր ուսուցիչներու միջոցով, որոնցմէ սորվեցաւ եւրոպական եւ օսմանեան գրականութիւն, կրօն, փիլիսոփայութիւն, ընկերաբանութիւն, դաշնամուր նուագել, անգլերէն, ֆրանսերէն եւ արաբերէն։ Յունարէն սորվեցաւ իր դրացիներէն եւ կարճ ժամանակով Պոլսոյ յունական դպրոց մը յաճախելով։ 1893-ին կարճ շրջան մը յաճախեց Աղջկանց Ամերիկեան Քոլէճը։ 1897-ին թարգմանեց [[Ճէյքըպ Էպոթ|Ճէյքըպ Էպոթի]] «Մայրը» (Mother) գիրքը, որուն համար սուլթանը զինք պարգեւատրեց Բարեգործութեան Շքանշանով (Şefkat Nişanı)<ref>"Ottoman medal for 'compassionate' British lady to go under the hammer". Hurriyet Daily News. 24 January 2015.</ref>։ Ան դարձեալ յաճախեց Ամերիկեան Քոլէճը 1899-էն 1901 եւ շրջանաւարտ եղաւ։ Իր հօր տունը Պոլսոյ մտաւորական գործունէութեան կեդրոն մըն էր եւ Հալիտէ Էտիպ նոյնիսկ իբրեւ մանուկ մասնակցեցաւ քաղաքի մտաւորական կեանքին։ Վկայուելէ ետք, ան ամուսնացաւ մաթեմաթիքոս եւ աստղագէտ Սալիհ Զեքի Պէյի հետ, որմէ ունեցաւ երկու մանչ զաւակ։ Այսուհանդերձ, ան շարունակեց իր մտաւորական գործունէութիւնը եւ 1908-ին սկսաւ կրթութեան եւ կանանց կացութեան մասին յօդուածներ գրել Թաուֆիք Ֆիքրէթի «Թանին» (Tanin) թերթին եւ «Տեմեթ» (Demet) կանանց պարբերաթերթին համար։ 1909-ին հրատարակեց իր առաջին վէպը՝ «Սեւիյէ Թալիպ» (Seviye Talip)։ Կրթութեան մասին իր յօդուածներուն պատճառով, կրթական նախարարութիւնը զինք աշխատանքի ընդունեց՝ Պոլսոյ աղջկանց դպրոցները բարեփոխելու համար։ Ան աշխատեցաւ Նաքիյէ Հանըմի հետ՝ ուսումնական ծրագիրի եւ մանկավարժութեան փոփոխութիւններու վրայ, ինչպէս նաեւ մանկավարժութիւն, բարոյագիտութիւն եւ պատմութիւն դասաւանդեց զանազան դպրոցներու մէջ։ Ան հրաժարական տուաւ մզկիթային դպրոցներու հարցով նախարարութեան հետ ունեցած անհամաձայնութեան պատճառով։ 1910-ին ան ամուսնալուծուեցաւ Սալիհ Զեքիէն։ Իր տունը դարձաւ մտաւորական սրահ (սալոն), մասնաւորաբար թրքութեան նոր հասկացողութիւններով հետաքրքրուողներուն համար։ 1911-ին ան ներգրաւուեցաւ «Թուրք Օճախի» (Türk Ocağı) գործունէութեան մէջ եւ 1912-ին դարձաւ անոր առաջին կին անդամը։ Ան նաեւ «Կանանց Բարձրացման» (Taali-i Nisvan) կազմակերպութեան հիմնադիրներէն էր։ Այս շրջանին իր շփում ունեցած անձերու շարքին էր հայ քահանայ եւ յօրինող [[Կոմիտաս Վարդապետ|Կոմիտասը,]] որուն երաժշտութիւնը ան բարձր կը գնահատէր եւ կը նկատէր աւելի շատ անատոլիական, քան հայկական։ == Առաջին Համաշխարհային Պատերազմի Շրջանին<ref name=":0" /> == Ան վերստին ամուսնացաւ 1917-ին Տոքթ. Ալի Ատնանի (յետագային՝ Ատըվար) հետ, իսկ յաջորդ տարին պաշտօն ստանձնեց իբրեւ գրականութեան դասախօս Իսթանպուլի Համալսարանի Գրականութեան Ֆակուլտետին մէջ։ Այս շրջանին էր, որ ան ազդուելով [[Զիյա Կէօքալփ|Զիյա Կէօքալփի]] գաղափարներէն՝ աւելի ու աւելի գործօն դարձաւ Թուրքիոյ ազգայնական շարժման մէջ<ref>Adıvar, pages 431–471.</ref>։ 1916–1917 թուականներուն ան վարեց Դամասկոսի, Պէյրութի եւ Լեռնալիբանանի Անթուրա (կամ Այնթուրա) քաղաքի «Սեն Ժոզէֆ» քոլէճի օսմանեան դպրոցներու տեսուչի պաշտօնը։ Այս դպրոցներուն աշակերտները կը ներառէին հարիւրաւոր հայ, արաբ, ասորի, մարոնի, քիւրտ եւ թուրք որբեր։ Հայոց Ցեղասպանութեան ընթացքին, Հալիտէ Էտիպ Ատըվարի եւ Ճեմալ Փաշայի ղեկավարութեամբ, «Սեն Ժոզէֆ» քոլէճին մէջ շուրջ 1000 հայ եւ 200 քիւրտ երեխաներ «թրքացուեցան»։ Անթուրայի որբանոցի երեխաները բերուած էին գոյութիւն ունեցող որբանոցներէ, եւ ոչ թէ փողոցներէն փրկուած էին Ճեմալ Փաշայի կողմէ, ինչպէս յետագային կը պնդէր Հալիտէ Էտիպ։ Անթուրայի հայ որբերուն մեծ մասը օսմանեան նահանջէն ետք վերադարձաւ իր հայկական ինքնութեա<ref>Deringil, Selim (28 February 2019). Հայերէն կամ քրտերէն ո՛չ մէկ բառ արտասանելու արտօնութիւն կար։ Ուսուցիչներն ու հսկիչները խնամքով մարզուած էին երեխաներու կեանքին մէջ թրքական գաղափարներն ու սովորոյթները տպաւորելու, ինչպէս նաեւ կանոնաւորաբար զանոնք դաստիարակելու... թրքական ցեղի վարկին ու հեղինակութեան ոգիով»։</blockquote>Մարդկային Իրաւանց ուսումնասիրութիւններու փրոֆեսէօր Քիթ Տէյվիտ Ուէյթընփոյ Հալիտէ Էտիպի եւ Ճեմալ Փաշայի կողմէ ոչ-թուրք որբերու հանդէպ ցուցաբերուած վերաբերմունքը բաղդատած է բնիկ ամերիկացի երեխաներու համար նախատեսուած ամերիկեան եւ քանատական այն դպրոցներուն հետ, ուր երեխաները պարտադրաբար կը ձուլուէին եւ յաճախ ենթակայ կը դառնային բռնութիւններու։ Ան գրած է, թէ Էտիպ իր գրութիւններուն մէջ հայերու հանդէպ ուժեղ ատելութիւն ցոյց տուած է՝ զանոնք ներկայացնելով իբրեւ «օսմանցիներու առասպելական եւ գոյութենական թշնամին», եւ նոյնիսկ ըրած է «արեան զրպարտութեան» ու երեխաներու մարդակերութեան պնդումներ, որոնք նման են հակասեմականութեան մէջ տեղ գտած մեղադրանքներուն։ Ան նաեւ պնդած է, թէ դաւադրութիւն մը կար թուրք երեխաները հայացնելու, «այսպիսով Անթուրայի իր գործունէութեան համար իրեն ուղղուած մեղադրանքները վերստին ուղղելով բուն իսկ հայերուն դէմ»։ Ուէյթընփոյ անոր մասին կը գրէ<ref>Panian, page xvii</ref>.<blockquote>«Թուրքիան արդիականացնելն ու անոր մահմետական վերնախաւը արեւմտեան քննադատութենէն պաշտպանելը Հալիտէ Էտիպի կեանքի գործին հիմնական տարրերն են․ սակայն անոր զլացումը՝ պաշտպանելու հայ երեխաները կամ նոյնիսկ կարեկցանք արտայայտելու անոնց՝ իբրեւ ցեղասպանութեան զոհերու, կը հաստատէ մարդկային տարրական կարեկցանքի պակասը։ Հալիտէ Էտիպի համար ընկերային տարբերութեան եւ կրօնի հարցերը սահմանափակումներ կը դնէին մարդկութեան համամարդկային բնոյթին վրայ․ անոր համար ցեղասպանութիւնը չափազանց բարձր գին մը չէր՝ թրքական յառաջդիմութեան, արդիականութեան եւ ազգայնականութեան համար»։</blockquote>Հակառակ Անթուրայի որբանոցներուն մէջ իր ունեցած դերին, Հալիտէ Էտիպ իր համակրանքը արտայայտած է հայերուն հանդէպ՝ արիւնահեղութեանց գծով, արժանանալով «Իթթիհատ վէ Թերաքքի» (Միութիւն եւ Յառաջդիմութիւն) կուսակցութեան անդամներու զայրոյթին, որոնք կոչ կ ընէին պատժելու զինք։ Թալէաթ Փաշա մերժեց որեւէ պատիժ կիրարկել եւ ըսաւ․ «Ան իր երկրին կը ծառայէ այնպէս, ինչպէս ինք կը հաւատայ։ Թող արտայայտէ իր միտքը․ ան ինքնաբուխ է»։ ԱՄՆ-ի Բարձր Յանձնակատար մը զինք կը կոչէ «շովինիսթ» (ծայրահեղ ազգայնամոլ) եւ մէկը, որ «կը փորձէ վերականգնել Թուրքիոյ վարկը»։ Միւս կողմէ, գերմանացի պատմաբան Հիլմար Քայզէր կըսէ․ «Նոյնիսկ եթէ թուրք ազգայնական ես, այդ մէկը քեզ մարդասպան չի տար»։ Կային մարդիկ, որոնք ճանչցուած թուրք ազգայնականներ էին, ինչպէս Հալիտէ Էտիպ․ ան կը պաշտպանէր հայերու ձուլումը, բայց խստօրէն դէմ էր որեւէ տեսակի սպանութեան»։ 21 Հոկտեմբեր 1918-ին, Հալիտէ Էտիպ «Վաքըթ» թերթին մէջ յօդուած մը գրեց՝ դատապարտելով ջարդերը․ «Մենք կոտորեցինք անմեղ հայ բնակչութիւնը... Մենք փորձեցինք բնաջնջել հայերը միջնադարեան դարաշրջանին պատկանող մեթոտներով»։ Կենսագիր Հիւլիա Ատաքի տեսակէտով, Էտիպի դիրքորոշումը ժամանակի ընթացքին զարգացում արձանագրած է․ սկզբնական շրջանին ան աւելի կարեկից էր հայերուն հանդէպ, սակայն 1920-ականներուն ան որդեգրեց «պաշտպանողական Հանրապետական պատcontext-ը» (պատcontext/պատ his narrative) եւ արդարացուց Հայոց Ցեղասպանութիւնը իբրեւ «փոխադարձ սպանութիւններ»<ref>Deringil, Selim (28 February 2019).
