This is because the dates currently used in many, but not all articles- Kohitatea, Hui-Tanguru, Poutū-te-rangi, Paenga-whāwhā, Haratua, Pipiri, Hongongoi, Here-turi-kōkā, Mahuru, Whiringa-ā-nuku, Whiringa-ā-rangi and Hakihea- are not actually solar months equivalent to the ones used in English (January, February, etc), but are from the traditional Māori ''lunar'' calendar, which is entirely different. If you were already aware of this, I apologise, but if you were not, I'll explain a bit further. These months start and end at different times completely to the European months. The misuse of these month names is a very common mistake, so don't worry if you were unaware; I spent my early childhood erroneously using these lunar months in place of solar months and only learnt more about it a few years ago. Here is an example; <br/> <br/>Pipiri (May–June). All things on earth are contracted because of the cold; likewise man.<br/> <br/>Hongonui (or Hōngongoi, June–July). As far as I know, the software on this site uses the transliterated months, e.g. in signatures, or in "magic words" such as <nowiki>{{CURRENTMONTHNAME}}</nowiki> which produces {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}}. The use of the lunar months is entirely in the writing of editors, and this could be changed by normal editing. Google Translate incorrectly converts English dates such as 14 April 2022 to 14 Paenga-whāwhā 2022, but we have a policy here of not allowing machine translations (imposed by me by fiat, but no one's ever challenged me on it). :I'm not sure how easy it would be to change lunar dates with a bot or template, as a date of say 14 Haratua will will correspond to different dates using the transliterated months, depending on which year it is. :If you wish the Māori Wikipedia to establish a policy of not using lunar dates in articles in the future (or only using them with a solar/transliterated dates included as well), I suggest you start a new section at [[Wikipedia:Kōrero]], or informally, just use the solar dates yourself and if you notice an article using lunar dates, correct it if you know what the solar date is.-[[User:Gadfium|gadfium]] ([[User talk:Gadfium|talk]]) 18:25, 13 Āperira 2022 (UTC) == Common.css == Kia ora! I could edit it in 2015 but permissions have been tightened since. It wouldn't be a good idea for me to assign those rights to myself when I'm not an expert on the interface css. You'll need to find an interface administrator with global rights. If you don't know how to do that, I'll ask at the stewards IRC channel. Alternatively, if you can show me that you have interface admin rights on another version Wikipedia and have used them to edit common.css, I can give you those rights here.-[[User:Gadfium|gadfium]] ([[User talk:Gadfium|talk]]) 19:38, 27 Hune 2023 (UTC) ::Oh I see.
