den Interesse og Nytte, en Sagnsamling kan have:

1. At Sagnene om de {{sperret|overnaturlige Væsener}} ved deres
Sammenhæng med Nordens gamle Gudelære, der opbevares i
begge Eddaerne, kunne tjene samme som en levende og ei uvigtig
Commentair, og ved den mærkelige Overeensstemmelse som finder
Sted mellem dem og de fleste nordeuropæiske Sagn, ei alene
i det Hele, men ogsaa ofte i de enkelte Dele, i Forbindelse med
andre Ting, føre til interessante Slutninger om Folkenes Oprindelse,
Beslægtskab o. s. v., ja, ved denne mærkelige Lighed ei engang
være Philosophen uvigtige, kan vel neppe med Grund modsiges.
„Folkesagnene“ siger en af Danmarks lærdeste Mænd, Professor
Werlauf, „have sjelden eller aldrig været Gjenstand for nogen egentlig
videnskabelig Undersøgelse, skjønt de maaskee som Aftryk af ethvert
Folks individuelle Charakteer, torde udgjøre et ikke uvigtigt
Capitel i den menneskelige Culturs Historie.“ (Athene 4, 193). Den
Indvending, som maaskee vil gjøres, at disse Sagn om Jutuler
Nøkker o. s. v. ville tjene til at stadfæste en gammel Overtro, er
efter Udgiverens Mening ugrundet. Saavel i Indledningen, som
ofte i Anmærkningerne, vil Læseren finde antydet den første Oprindelse
til disse Sagn, og den skadelige Tro paa disse Væsener vil
udentvivl derved, at de komme paa Prent og blive Gjenstand for&lt;noinclude&gt;

Lignende Sagn ere temmelig almindelige og henføres til
forskjellige Steder, f. Ex. til Egeberg ved Christiania (see Nor
74) o. s. v.

De ere især mærkelige for den Lighed, de have med Udlandets
Traditioner. I Danmark tabte en Gjordemoder Synet,
fordi hun fortalte, hvad hun havde seet i en Høi, hvorhen hun
var bleven kaldet for at hjelpe en underjordisk Kone, der var i
Barnsnød. (Thiele 1, 36). Lignende Historier fortælles om en
Grevinde Ranzau o. fl. i Grimms deutsche Sagen. I Scotland,
fortæller Grimm i sin ypperlige Afhandling “Ueber das
Wesen der Elfen i Irischen Elfenmärchen {{antikva|XXVII}},“ havde Elferne
engang bragt et nyfødt {{korreksjon|Bar|Barn|272}} ind i deres Shian, og hentede
siden Moderen for at hun skulde give Barnet Die. En
Dag, da hun var ene hjemme, fik hun Lyst til noget af den
Salve, hvormed hun saa, at Elferne besmurte deres Øine.
Hun blev imidlertid ikke {{korreksjon|ærdig|færdig|272}} med mere end det ene Øie, da
Elferne igjen kom tilbage; men med dette kunde hun nu see
alle Ting i deres sande Skikkelse, en Gave, som hun beholdt,
selv efterat hun var sendt hjem igjen. En Dag saa hun i en
Folketrængsel den Elfe, der havde taget hendes Barn, uagtet
han var usynlig for Andre, og frugte strax efter Barnets Befindende.
Forbauset spørger Elfen hende igjen, om hun kunde
see ham, og da hun, skrækket ved hans frygtelige Mine, bekjendte
Sandheden, spytter han hende i Øiet, og siden den Tid saa hun
ei mere dermed. En lignende Fortælling findes i der Mythologie
der Fem und Elfen von Wolff 2, 95.

En Bonde i Fjære-Sogn ved Navn Audun blev engang
heel uventet indtagen i et Fjeld af et Bjergtrold.
Da Manden hverken vilde tale, spise eller drikke, blev Troldet
vred og sparkede ham den tredie Dag under Sengen
og gik derpaa sin Vei. Troldet havde imidlertid en Kone,
der følte Medlidenhed med den stakkels Bonde. Hun underrettede
ham derfor om, at naar hendes Mand kom hjem,
vilde han kaste ham ud paa en Skuffe, men bad ham,
naar det skede, at holde sig vel til den ene Side. Da
Troldet kom hjem, kastede han Bonden ud af Fjeldet, og
slyngede oven i Kjøbet en Jernstang efter ham; men Bonden,
der havde agtet paa Konens Raad, slap med Livet
derfra.

I Smeddalen paa Fillefjeld, hvor der for har været
drevet et Jernverk, havde Dverge i gamle Dage deres

der stod i den østlige Ende af Dalen, tonede i Dvergenes
Øren, droge de længere op i Fjeldene og lode Verktøi og
deres øvrige Sager tilbage. Syne Folk kunne endnu see
store Rujernstænger, svere Ambolte og Tænger staae
under Bjergvæggen; men det er forgjeves at prøve paa
at flytte dem. Efter at Kirken nu er nedreven, vil man
vide, at Dvergene atter pusle paa gamle Tomter.

Paa en Gaard i Fjære Sogn sad en Høstaften to
Koner og bagte Fladbrød, da pludselig Døren gik op, og

samme kom en fremmed Qvinde ind, der greb Børnene
og derpaa forsvandt. De forskrækkede Koner ilede
efter, men kunde intet Spor opdage; derimod hørte de inde
i en nærliggende Haug Børnene skrige, og sluttede deraf,
at den underjordiske Moder gav dem Prygl for deres Nysgjerrighed
og Ulydighed.

Den første Beboer af Budalen, en Bygd i Guledal,
var efter Sagnet Kjæmpen Ketil. Han boede ved Buaelv
under Fjeldet Høikittiln, der efter ham skal have faaet sit
Navn. Ketil levede her en Tid i Selskab med to Andre,
men forlod siden Budalen, og nedsatte sig ved Ørkelelven
i Rennebu, hvor der paa Gaarden Uff endnu findes en
Stue, som har tilhørt ham. Den er kun 3 til 4 Stokke høi,

Hei, du har etterspurt en dokumentasjon av prosessen for å legge opp en tekst på Wikikilden. Jeg har begynt å se på om jeg kan skrive en hjelpeside som viser hvordan man laster ned en pdf fra Nasjonalbiblioteket og produserer en digital tekst på grunnlag av denne. Problemet mitt er at jeg hittil ikke har brukt Nasjonalbiblioteket selv, så jeg er ikke kjent med hva som vil være beste praksis. Etter et forsøk har jeg lagt merke til to ting:

# Selv om pdf-filene fra Nasjonalbiblioteket har høy oppløsning, virker det som om Wikimedia Commons har problemer med å konvertere sidene i pdf-filen til jpg (som er det vi ser her på Wikikilden). Bildene i redigeringsvinduet på Wikikilden blir svært uklare.
# Pdf-filene fra Nasjonalbiblioteket inneholder et tekstlag som dukker opp i redigeringsvinduet på Wikikilden, men dette tekstlaget ser ut til å være totalt ubrukelig. For å finne maskinlest tekst som kan brukes i det videre arbeidet må jeg gå tilbake til Nasjonalbiblioteket og velge å vise «Digital tekst» sammen med bildene. Denne teksten kan jeg så lime inn her på Wikikilden.

Dette siste gjør helt klart prosessen mer tungvint enn den kunne ha vært hvis tekstlaget i pdf-filen hadde vært brukbart.

:Jeg skjønner ikke helt at billedkvaliteten på boksidene fra NB-pdfer som vises i Wikikilden generelt skal kunne beskrives som grøtete, selv om det klart er snakk om nedskalering i kvalitet gjennom Commons. Kan du komme med et eksempel?
:Enig i at teksten blir ubrukelig i noen tilfeller (og bare spres utover som fragmenter), men da funker det gjerne helt fint å heller bruke Wikikildens egen OCR (noe som skulle tyde på at bildene er klare nok).
:Noen ganger kopierer jeg heller teksten fra pdf'en og redigerer den i et tekstdokument for så å lime inn her.
:Har forresten lagt merke til at det plutselig dukker opp sider i NB-pdf'er som ikke er optisk lest men dette gjelder kanskje 1% av sidene.
:Kanskje best jeg spør, selv om jeg vel fremstår noe enfoldig: Skjer indekseringen av seg selv etter at jeg har opprettet siden, eller er det avhengig av at du går inn og gjør noe? Skjønte ikke helt om punkt 2 gjaldt et forsøk du selv hadde gjort eller mer generelt admin-rollen.
