The initiative turns September into a period dedicated to documenting Brazilian built heritage and monuments to promote their wider dissemination. Collectively, we uploaded 20,225 new photographs to Commons, 1,331 of which were taken during Photo Walks organized through a partnership between Wikimedia Brasil and cultural institutions across the country. From now on, the Brazilian jury will select 10 photographs for the international stage, where winners from all participating countries will compete. The Brazilian winners will be announced in the first weeks of November, and the international stage winners in mid-February 2027. After sharing updates from the summer months, participants discussed how to communicate their work more effectively through Wikimedia Polska's news and social media channels. They also heard about a forthcoming editing campaign with the National Museum in Kraków, linked to its exhibition on Dante's Divine Comedy (more in an upcoming report). Kamila Neuman then shared highlights from the August 2026 issue of This Month in GLAM, and the group considered which solutions from other countries could work in Poland. Participants discussed how a tool like the Colombian Public Domain Viewer, which presents public domain works through Wikidata, could be adapted to Polish heritage. They also looked at the Impact Visualizer through Martin Poulter's overview of articles related to the Khalili Collections, and explored WikiBento dashboards, whose current version the group plans to test. Another topic was how the recent introduction of lazy loading of images may lower media-level pageview figures in Commons Impact Metrics, an important consideration when reporting results to partner institutions. For the Polish network, the GLAM newsletter remains a valuable source of practical ideas and inspiration. Another topic was how the recent introduction of lazy loading of images may lower media-level pageview figures in Commons Impact Metrics, an important consideration when reporting results to partner institutions. For the Polish network, the GLAM newsletter remains a valuable source of practical ideas and inspiration. Members of the network will meet again at the Open Knowledge: Wikimedia & Research conference in Katowice in October, and an in-person meeting of Polish Wikimedians in Residence is planned for 5–6 November. <br /> <noinclude></noinclude> emwa1tcfxoqizg4fi2vgnydyjjq059h 279428 279427 2026-10-08T20:33:09Z Kamila Neuman (WMPL) 42454 final edits 279428 wikitext text/x-wiki <noinclude></noinclude> === Two Years of the Wikimedian in Residence at the Czartoryski Library === <gallery mode="packed-hover" heights="120"> File:Ludwik Węgierski - Przywilej koszycki - 169 Perg. - Czartoryski Library in Kraków.jpg|Privilege of Koszyce (1374) File:Akt unii w Horodle (I) - 300 Perg. - Czartoryski Library in Kraków.jpg|Act of the Union of Horodło (1413) File:Traktat krakowski zawarty między Zygmuntem I Starym a Albrechtem Hohenzollernem (001) - 756 Perg. - Czartoryski Library in Kraków.jpg|Treaty of Kraków (1525) File:Karol IX - Pacta conventa (001) - 965 Perg. - Czartoryski Library in Kraków.jpg|Pacta conventa (1573) File:Akt Sejmowy Detronizacji z 25 stycznia 1831 roku (059) - 6434 IV Rkps - Czartoryski Library in Kraków.jpg|Act of Dethronement of Nicholas I, November Uprising (1831) File:Józef II cesarz rzymsko-niemiecki zatwierdza Adamowi Kazimierzowi Czartoryskiemu tytuł książęcy i herb Pogoń (015) - 13066 Rkps - Czartoryski Library in Kraków.jpg|Confirmation of the Czartoryski princely title and the Pogoń coat of arms (1785) File:Kontrakt pomiędzy Gminą miasta Krakowa a Władysławem Czartoryskim o odstąpieniu Arsenału i murów miejskich przy Bramie Floriańskiej (001) - 7101 IV T.2 Rkps - Czartoryski Library in Kraków.jpg|Contract founding the Czartoryski Museum in Kraków (1874) File:Dyplom honorowego obywatela miasta Krakowa dla Władysława Czartoryskiego (001) - 7101 V T.1 Rkps - Czartoryski Library in Kraków.jpg|Honorary citizenship of Kraków for Władysław Czartoryski (1880) File:Regulamin kolonii polskiej Adampola (001) - 6736 IV Rkps - Czartoryski Library in Kraków.jpg|Regulations of the Polish colony of Adampol (1886) File:Wiązownica. The residency, led by Agata Stadnicka, began in September 2024 and will continue until 2028. Over the past year, 354 high-quality reproductions were released on Wikimedia Commons. They include milestones of Polish and Central European history: privileges granted to the nobility by medieval kings, the acts of the Union of Horodło (1413) between Poland and Lithuania, the Treaty of Kraków (1525), the pacta conventa of 1573 (the contract every elected king of Poland had to swear to), and documents of the November Uprising against the Russian Empire (1830–1831). Other releases trace the history of the Czartoryski family, whose collections formed the library, from the confirmation of their princely title and the contract founding the Czartoryski Museum in Kraków to the regulations of Adampol (Polonezköy), a Polish émigré settlement near Istanbul, and family photographs. Illuminated manuscripts complete the picture: Jan Długosz's Life of St Kinga, aphorisms handwritten by Johann Kaspar Lavater for Princess Izabela Czartoryska, Persian and Indian muraqqaʿ albums, and a 19th-century map of Paris released for Wikimania 2026. The files now illustrate Wikipedia articles in 17 language editions, from English, French and German to Georgian, Turkish and Ukrainian, and one of them accompanies a transcription on Wikisource. New Commons categories and Wikidata entries connect the collection with related holdings worldwide. The library has also joined the GLAM Wiki Dashboard and Commons Impact Metrics, which make the reach of its files measurable. We invite Wikimedia contributors to explore the collection, help improve its descriptions and reuse the files across language editions. Facilitated by Kamila Neuman, Open Culture Manager at Wikimedia Polska, these regular peer-learning sessions provide a space for exchanging experiences, discussing common challenges and developing good practices for Wikimedia residencies in cultural institutions. The meeting brought together Wikimedians in Residence from the National Library of Poland, the Warsaw Public Library, the Czartoryski Library at the National Museum in Kraków and EC1 Łódź – City of Culture, as well as Wikimedia Polska staff: Katarzyna Makowska, Open Science Manager, and Maciej Szostek, an experienced Wikimedian in Residence who has completed residencies at PKO Bank Polski and [[w:E. We were especially glad to welcome two librarians preparing to become Wikimedians in Residence at Wrocław University Library and the University Library in Toruń, which began cooperating with Wikimedia Polska earlier this year. Seeing the network grow was an encouraging experience for the whole group. We will share more about the celebrations in our next report.
